From mid March our black berry trees at home have been raining with plump deep red berry goodness and my daughter is spending most of the day in the back yard picking off the floor and eating them, even when we are inside she keeps screaming “toot, toot”! (toot=berries)
This week has been a berrylicious one since I started it off by making 2 batches of jam and decided to make a berry macaroon tart yesterday.
The smell of coconut baking in the oven took over the house and soon we were drooling waiting for the timer to go off. and oh when it did… I couldn’t stop myself from picking up a piece every time I pass by the table it was sitting on.
This recipe was adapted from one of my favorite food bloggers, Heidi Swanson, where she uses cherries instead of berries. I highly recommend trying it out if you do have berries on hand. The crust is soooooo simple and easy to make and comes out perfect every time I try it!!
